FAQ

Product Questions

Common questions about our optical brighteners.

How do optical brighteners work?
Optical brighteners absorb invisible UV light and re-emit it as visible blue light. This blue light counteracts the yellowing of substrates, creating the perception of increased whiteness and brightness.
Which grade should I use for plastics?
For most plastic applications including PVC, PP, PE, and PET, OB-1 is the most popular choice due to its excellent heat stability. For high-temperature engineering plastics, we recommend grade 393.
Which grade is best for detergents and textiles?
CBS-X is the preferred grade for detergents, textiles, and paper due to its excellent water solubility and compatibility with aqueous systems.
What is the recommended dosage?
Dosage varies by application. For plastics, typical usage is 0.01-0.05% by weight. For detergents, 0.05-0.3%. We can provide specific recommendations based on your substrate and desired effect.
